“It was the end of my junior year of college ball, and I had a great year. I hit over .400, stole a bunch of bases, made the All-Conference Team…everything a ballplayer could want. But I wanted more. I didn’t want to settle for being a good player within my conference…I wanted to get recognized nationally. I wanted my friends and coaches back home to start hearing about what I was doing in college. I wanted to start making a name for myself…something most people didn’t think “the little kid from a little school” could ever do.”

I set out to change my approach. I looked back over my junior year stats and noticed that if I could just eliminate the slumps I went through throughout the year, that I could boost my batting average and power numbers significantly and possibly accomplish a goal I had had since I was 12 years old: to make the Rawlings 1st Team All-America at the college level.

I spent that entire off-season, the winter of 2007-2008, going back to the drawing board. I met with my old instructors, talked to coaches, went over old game film, and read any hitting book I could find. I covered every hitting frustration I remembered having and developed my own solution to each one. My solution: a hitting drill that would solve any issue I might come across during the season.

I thought, “What if I had a drill for each problem, that I could instantly turn to after a bad at-bat, that would instantly fix it? I could eliminate any chance of going through a slump, and finally have a solid year from start to finish.

So that’s what I did. I put all of these things to work, and the results were awesome. By the end of my senior year I had boosted my average by 40 points, I doubled my home runs, added 100 points to my slugging percentage, and broke over half of the single season offensive records at my college which has been around for 125 years. To top it off, I received a phone call from Rawlings 2 weeks after the season ended. I was unanimously named to the 1st Team All-America by the American Baseball Coaches Association as well as awarded the Gold Glove Award as the best Center Fielder in the country. It was the icing on the cake after leading our college to its 1st NCAA Tournament Appearance in school history.

The stats speak for themselves…

Finally, I have put back together the system I created in 2008, and decided to let some of you younger ballplayers benefit from all the research I did 2 years ago. I know that without the coaches, teammates, and parents that I had by my side, that I would have never been able to accomplish what I did, so one of my goals since 2008 was to find a way to give back to those younger players looking for the 1 thing that can give them a shot…the 1 thing that can help them reach their next goal.

Here is the step-by-step program that I used each and every day as I pushed through a tough college season that eventually led to a spot on the Rawlings All-American Team and gave me the national recognition I had been shooting at for so long…

P.S.

These are the exact drills that added 40 points to my college average in 1 season. It doubled my home runs, boosted my slugging percentage by 100 points, and the list goes on. These are the tools I used to reach the All-American level, which is something I’ll always be proud of.  It changed my game and I know it will change yours.
